Late Entries

This article explains what late entries are and how they are applied

Last updated on 06 Feb, 2026

What are “Late Entries”?

Late Entries allow some Open events to accept online entries after the normal closing date, once the start sheet has been published. This is only available if the event organiser chooses to allow it.

Will all events allow late entries?

No. Late Entries are optional and set by the organiser.
Many events will continue to close as they always have.

When can I enter late?

If Late Entries are enabled:

  • Entries open after the start sheet is published

  • They remain open until the organiser’s late entry deadline
(this can be as late as 15 minutes before the event start time)

  • Prior to Start Sheet publication, late entries may be advertised (arrow 1 below). If it is before the Event's Closing Date, your entry will be a regular entry. Between Closing Date and Start Sheet publication entry is not possible (arrow 2). In this case, wait for the Start Sheet to be published before attempting to enter.

How do I enter late?

  • Late Entries are online only

  • Availability is indicated by an appropriate label (arrow 1 below)

  • Once the start sheet is published, if late entries have been enabled, there are spaces remaining and it is before the late entry deadline, you may enter as a Late Entry.

  • Available places are offered first come, first served

  • When you click Enter, the place is held for 10 minutes while you complete payment

  • The Late Entry fee may be different from the regular entry fee as indicated in the example below (arrow 2)

What happens after I pay?

Once payment is completed:

  • You are automatically allocated a start number

  • You will receive an email confirmation, including:

    • Your start number

    • A copy of the event start sheet

Are late entries more expensive?

They can be. The organiser may set a different entry fee for late entries.

Can I enter tandem or team events late?

No. Late Entries are currently available for individual events only.

Why can’t I see Late Entries for an event?

Possible reasons:

  • The organiser hasn’t enabled Late Entries

  • All late entry places have already been taken

  • The late entry deadline has passed

Should I rely on Late Entries?

No. Late Entries are intended to fill remaining gaps, not replace normal entry.
If you want to be sure of a ride, enter before the closing date.
